Cloud backups
Shop backups go to the cloud instead of sitting on the same server.
Backups sit on the very server they protect: lose the server and you lose them with it. This plugin adds cloud storages to the «Backups» section, so a copy travels off the server and can be retrieved even after the site is gone entirely.
What it does
- Adds three cloud places to keep copies in: Amazon S3, Google Drive and Dropbox.
- Works not only with Amazon but with other S3-compatible storages as well: the service address and the way of addressing it are part of the storage details.
- Tests the connection before the first copy is ever made — the shop writes and deletes a probe file and tells you whether it worked.
- Sends copies to the cloud on a schedule, daily or weekly, together with the section's regular backups.
- Lists the copies held in the cloud with their size and date; any of them can be downloaded or deleted.
- Restores the shop straight from a cloud copy, taking a safety copy of the current state before it starts.
- Lets you keep several storages at once and mark one of them as the main destination.
What you need
- Credentials for the storage you choose: for Amazon S3 a key, secret, region and bucket; for Dropbox an access token; for Google Drive the Google application identifier and secret plus a long-lived access token for the drive, and optionally the folder to put copies in.
- A regular scheduled task on the server if copies are to be created automatically.
The plugin speaks the language of your panel
The names of the cloud storages and the labels of their fields now live in the plugin itself and are translated into Russian, Ukrainian and English. The engine keeps only what it can do on its own — this server and FTP.
An icon of its own
In the «Plugins» section and in the list of installed items the add-on now shows its own icon instead of an identical box, so you find the one you need at a glance. The icon appears on shops running version 1.30.0 and newer.
