Nova Poshta
Nova Poshta delivery at checkout: branches, lockers, map and courier.
Most shoppers in Ukraine expect Nova Poshta and want to pick their exact branch while they are placing the order. This add-on makes that part of your checkout: the customer finds their city, picks a branch, a parcel locker or a courier to the door, and the price fills in by itself. No more chasing the address over messages afterwards — the pickup point is already stored with the order.
What it does
- Puts Nova Poshta among the delivery options with a switch for the pickup type: branch, parcel locker or courier to the door, each turned on separately.
- Lets the customer find a point by searching the list or by picking it on a map with carrier markers — you choose the mode in the settings.
- Calculates the price from the real weight and dimensions of the order and the declared value of the goods; your own markup can be added on top.
- Hides branches that cannot accept the parcel by weight or size, so nobody picks a point their order will never reach.
- Keeps cities and branches inside the shop, so the list opens instantly; refreshed with a button in the settings and on a schedule.
- Saves the number, name and address of the chosen branch, the city and its coordinates with the order, ready for packing and handover.
What you need
- An access key from your Nova Poshta account.
- The sender city — the tariff is calculated from it.
- One first refresh of the city and branch lists after installation, done with a button in the delivery method settings.
What appears in the shop
This is what a shopper sees once it is installed.
- «Nova Poshta» appears among the delivery options at checkout. Choosing it, the customer searches for their city and picks a branch — from a list or on a map. The city search and the branch map are part of your shop's checkout, so they work in any design and appear on their own. Nothing has to be edited in the design editor.
The nightly refresh of the city and branch directory now runs to the end. Before, it broke off halfway: the shop ran out of memory while reading the next pages of the directory, and the rest of the background work stopped with it — customer e-mails, exports, mailings. The directory was left with old branches, and a customer could pick a branch that no longer exists.
What we fixed
Street suggestions for courier delivery work again. The store asked the carrier about streets with the wrong settlement code, and the answer was always an empty list: the customer typed the street by guess and the manager corrected it when issuing the waybill.
A parcel locker is no longer offered for a parcel it cannot take. An order weighing 21 kg still showed the "Parcel locker" tab, and choosing it made delivery disappear from checkout along with the chosen city. Now a pickup option with no suitable point in the city is not shown at all, and if the cart got heavier after the choice was made, checkout switches to an available option instead of losing delivery.
The store now respects the carrier's limit on the weight of a single place. For parcel lockers this is usually the important one: the carrier leaves the total limit of the point empty and caps a single place at twenty kilograms.
Delivery no longer disappears after a branch is picked
The customer picked a branch and Nova Poshta vanished from the checkout, taking the payment block with it. That was the method itself: once a point was chosen it went to the carrier for a price, and when the price could not be obtained it removed itself from the list.
The method now stays, and instead of a sum it says «We will confirm the cost with you». The order goes through and you confirm the shipping cost yourself.
The recipient city is taken from the chosen branch rather than from the name typed in the field. A branch knows its own city: the customer lives in a village but collects the parcel in the district centre — exactly where the chosen point is.
And the important part for setup: if the dispatch city is not filled in, the shop now says so plainly. Without it the carrier calculates nothing, while the method used to look configured.
Branches are listed by number
The list of branches did not start with the first one: points came in the order the carrier returned them during the directory refresh, and a customer in a large city saw «Branch No. 55» first. Both the branch picker at checkout and the lookup on the storefront now put them in order — No. 1, No. 2, No. 3.
The order appears right after the add-on is updated; there is no need to wait for the nightly directory refresh.
You can see what kind of branch it is
The carrier has different branches: ordinary, cargo, partner point. They used to look the same in the list, and a customer with a crate of bottles could pick one that would not accept it. The kind of branch is now written right in the list while choosing, and it is stored in the order parameters together with the point itself — the manager sees it in the order card.
The branch kinds appear after the next nightly refresh of the directory, which runs on its own.
The branch now tells you about itself
In the list of branches, the name is followed by how late it works today and the number to call, and next to the shipping cost the customer sees the date the carrier promises to deliver. For courier delivery the street is suggested from the carrier directory: the customer picks it from a list, and the waybill gets the name exactly as Nova Poshta knows it.
The directory refreshes itself
Carrier branches open and close every month. The list of cities and branches is now refreshed every night without your involvement — before that it had to be started with a button in the settings. The city and branch lookup addresses were fixed as well: a registration mistake left them not working at all.
The directory update now shows its progress
Press «Update cities and branches» and you see what is happening: how many cities and branches are already downloaded and when it finished. Previously the button stayed at «Queued…», and cities were not downloaded at all when started from the settings — only branches were.
The add-on tells you when the directory is empty
Until cities and branches are downloaded, delivery does not work: customers have nothing to choose from. The add-on now says so in its settings and in the delivery method, right next to the «Update cities and branches» button. The same goes for a missing access key.
The access key moved to the add-on settings
The Nova Poshta key is now entered once, in the add-on settings, next to the button that refreshes the branch directory. It used to live in the shipping method, so a shop with two storefronts had to keep two methods with the same key. Your key is carried over automatically.
The sending city stays with the method: a shop may have several warehouses in different cities — add a method for each.
An icon of its own
In the «Plugins» section and in the list of installed items the add-on now shows its own icon instead of an identical box, so you find the one you need at a glance. The icon appears on shops running version 1.30.0 and newer.
